hippo tang eating feather duster?

My hippo tang is attacking the "stem" of my feather duster every time it lets its feathers out. Its not like he is nibbling either, he aggressively grabbs the stem and shakes it, like a dog playing tug of war.

Interesting, maybe he's treating it like a toy? Interesting to visualize in my head that's for sure!

i put in some alge paper and hes going to town...but hes a hippo so hes kinda off to begin with....
