Hippo Tang in QT for 2 weeks

Ok, so tomorrow marks 2 weeks since I put the concentration of copper up to just under 0.5ppm and one month of copper treatment (first two weeks at 0.25ppm as prescribed by the LFS)...Hippo tang looks the same as always, and the black clown still has spots, and both keep getting pop eye for a couple days at a time im assuming from itching. What am I doing wrong??

You need to have copper at therapeutic dosage for 4 weeks.

The bottle says 0.5ppm for 2 weeks? I have no problem playing the waiting game, I just worry about the fish being in copper water for over 6 weeks total before its all over with...But if y'all think it hasnt been long enough to see improvement then thats a relief. I've just started worrying it is something else (although this looks like a textbook example of ich.)...

P.S. Thanks for the quick replies guys!

From the Seachem Site:

"Remove all invertebrates. Turn off UV sterilizer; remove chemical filtration. If the bottle has a dropper cap, use 20 drops (1 mL) per 40 L (10.5 gallons*) the first day, wait 48 hours, then repeat. On non-dropper caps, each inner ring is 1 mL. In freshwater use half dose. Final copper concentration is 0.5 mg/L (0.25 mg/L in freshwater). Leave at this concentration for 14 days. Do not redose without testing (MultiTest: Copper™). Do not use in conjunction with any other medication. If tank has ever been treated with an ionic copper (e.g. copper chloride, sulfate or citrate), test copper level after initial dosing. Although most fish tolerate Cupramine™ to 0.8 mg/L, it is not advisable to exceed 0.6 mg/L copper. Remove with carbon or CupriSorb™."

It says 14 days....I dont understand why I'm not seeing improvement?

Are you certain you are keeping it at therapeutic levels (0.35mg/L or higher)? You have to test every day (preferably before lights out) to make sure your levels don't drop. You shouldn't be seeing spots after 7-10 days if your levels are correct.

As far as Seachem's instructions go, they are simply incorrect, and I wish they would update them. 2 weeks is the average life cycle for cryptocaryon, and it doesn't always "play by the rules." Consensus on this forum is treatment @ 0.40mg/L for 4 weeks to ensure you've covered two average life cycles. Again, daily testing is the key.

This is what it's always looked like for the test....im thinking its 0.5ppm...should i order a new test kit?

Anyone have experience reading the API copper kit??? My Seachem comes in today...hoping it's readings make more sense...

Keeping anyone updated that may be watching. DO NOT USE API TEST KIT with cupramine....I just assumed everyone that said not to use it was reading the results wrong, but I followed the directions to a T and they are not reading right. The seachem test kit was reading that the copper was way low. one night after raising the copper back up all of the fish showed no sign of ich! thats after 4 weeks of thinking the copper levels were correct....
