Hippo Tang with Powder Blue?

Has anyone tried to keep these fish together? I would like to try to keep them together in my 125g tank. I have had the Powder Blue for over a year now. I just bought the Hippo about a month ago thinking I was going to throw it in my new 240g. I kinda decided I wanted to go a different way with that tank now. The hippo is just about done with its quarantine and I would rather keep the fish then sell it or trade it in as it is an awesome Hippo and I have grown attached to it. Oh yeah the Hippo is 3 inches and the PB is 4 inches. I could always throw the Powder Blue in my quarantine for a few weeks and change up the rock work. Let me know what you guys think, any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

They are different genuses, so they should be fine together (tangs tend to fight more with each other the more closely related they are). Your best bet is to introduce the new one with the lights out. You may see some aggression for the first few days, but it should settle down quickly.

k, also someone suggested using a divider for a while, do u think that would help?

I personally wouldn't introduce a hippo to an established powder blue. I would probably try it if it were the other way around but PBs should be the last fish IMO. They are pretty teritorial and dont usually take well to new comers. Use of a QT was a great idea with these fish due to there history of Ich. If you decide to go for it mixing up the rock is a good idea. Either way, let us know how it goes.

i did them in the opposite order with no problems. If you do have problems, attaching a mirror to one end of the tank keeps the pbt busy.

ive had my bristletooth, yellow, sailfin, blue hippo and my powder blue in my 220 for a while now and they get along great. out of all of them the hippo is the sissy of the bunch.
