hey guys,

i want a hippo bad but heard horror stories across the board. can i have some input. yes or no, and if yes, care taking. how lon to quarentine? my info says 36 but i started a 55 a couple of months ago.

Blue hippo tangs get very large and grow fairly quickly. They're way too big and require too much swimming room for even a 55 gallon tank.

I agree. From my experince with them in the past I would suggest at least a 6 foot tank.

It's good that you're researching and reading up on a fish before buying, but in this case a BT isn't a good choice.

I bought mine in March, about 1 inch long. He was a little baby. Today, from nose to tail he is about 5 inches long. He is getting to be full size like my Achellies and B.Naso.

Absolutely not in a 55.

QT for 4 weeks with hypo at 1.010 SG, then gradually bring up .003 per day.

Good varied diet of Formula 2, Mysis, Thera A, and Nori - soaked in Selcon.
