Placed 5 pieces of new coral last night. This morning I thought I saw some string in the tank. Pulled it out and found it to be a star. Exactly like thin white string, small hub and about 5" spread out. ID please.
Without a good clear, up close photo, it would be difficult to say anything other than it is most likely a member of the "brittle" starfish group, which has ALOT of members...lol Most likely harmless.
To really identify brittle stars - especially white ones without color patterns - a specialist needs to see close up images of the plates & spines of the arms, both sides of the central disc, and of the plates that ring the mouth. I think we can safely say yours belongs to this group but not much else.
