Hitchhiker SPS

This sps coral was a hitchhiker on one of my live rocks three years ago. When I first found it, it was white and pretty small, only about the diameter of a dime. I turned the rock to face the lights, T-5s at that time, and it began to grow slowly. I upgraded to a larger tank two and a half months ago, and upgraded to metal halide lights. It has increased in size about 50% since then. Any idea what it is?

some kind of brown monti? maybe a sponge?

It's not a sponge. When I first found it, it looked soft to me and I thought that it was some sort of softy. I was cleaning some algae from around it and happened to touch it. The polyps retracted and the main mass was hard and rough. The polyps will retract and expand during different times, and at times it looks really fuzzy, kind of like velvet. The polyps don't seem to have a lot of color of their own, and the body is light lime-green. It used to be darker so the new metal halides might be a bit too bright, but it's growing very fast.

I'm a bit of a beginner, so the monti guess seems plausible to me. Thanks.
