He just started changing, not sure why.

we will probably need a little more info than that. With no params, or equipment,or other inhabitants, it would be tough....basing it off the photo id say the aptasia could be stinging it

Sorry my bad

1.025
Ammonia 0
Temp 79.7
PH 8.4
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
KH 179
PO .25
Ca 500

All other inhabitants corals and fish look fine, no unusual behavior. Good extension, anemones are happy. These numbers are consistent with the numbers I started taking in June as well. No huge anomalies. The aptasia looks close in the photo but isn't touching.

Sorry to say it looks like it dying. I have had this happen to my plating monti every now and then - not really sure why.

Hmm, will it just turn white? Do I take it out now or do I wait? It's really odd, it was doing so well. It's grown a lot since I got it

Have you upgraded your lights lately? My green monti plate is doing the same thing after upgrading the lights, but only the monti plate. None of my other corals or zoas are fading away.

No, in fact the only changes are really minor...

replaced a yellow tang that just up and died / disappeared. He was very small though

added a small yellow wrasse

added some seaweed as food on a clip (three squares total in the last 7 days)

all food, feedings, lighting, water changes, have been the same

The other thing is that the corals aren't just happy, they're freaking happy...

Frogspawn is way extended
Hairy mushroom as big as I've ever seen him
a bunch of other things I forget the names of are big, puffy, etc.

Sometimes soft corals can actually extend more when lighting is not intense enough. If your lights are bad or too weak this could cause it as well.

That was my thought too when I read that.

What kind of lighting do you have and when was the last time you changed bulbs?

Could also be these...the values should be much lower:

Nitrate 10
PO .25

How are you managing these....GFO and/or water changes?

Based on appearance I don't think it is stinging damage - that is generally more localized. What ever the problem, its pretty much affecting the entire coral. I tend to doubt it's nitrates or phosphates either. While levels ideally would be a bit lower, I have run tanks with worse numbers than that and successfully kept SPS. Based on the remaining areas that are healthy being somewhat shaded, I'd look to lighting as the potential cause. Probably the whitening areas are toast, so I'd try to rescue a few of the healthy bits, put them in a different spot and let them regrow.
