Hoar....frost that is :)

There has been fog galore here and basically if it is not warm or moving it is covered in Hoar Frost. Add to that we had a few clear days and the fog laying low over the city. The distant mountains were rising above the fog ready and willing to capture the Alpenglow from sunrise. To say it is breathtaking is still an understatement!

Now I know where the idea for the all white trees came from. The Hoar frost literally covers every branch. Still this Raven found a place to land. Guess he must have some good footwear!

Excellent shots. I really like the contrast of shadow / light in the raven pic. What time of day was that? These photos make me want to visit Alaska again!

Looks nice, this makes me want to get my butt in gear and bring my camera along when I'm going up Hillside ;) I hope the ice lasts through this weekend, I'll try to get some shots then.

I hope the ice lasts through this weekend.

This is not a sentiment I've ever felt in my life. Crazy Alaskans. I left Denver because I was tired of the cold winters. Seattle has made me soft and now I complain when it's below 30.

It actually has been a pretty decent winter, we are all handling the cold better than last winter.

If it's going to be cold, which it is, then it might as well be pretty, so I want the ice to last ;)

Cold? Man, it has barely been below Zero all winter.....you guys have all gotton soft :). I'll have to post more of the closer shots I took once I process them. It is pretty amazing stuff this Hoar Frost. Yeah, for those of you who have never seen it it is quite amazing to look out at a world of white. This is not like snow laden trees with piles of snow. Every single little branch is coated and outlined individually in a spectacular fashion.
