HOB filter for 27 gallon cube

I got a 27 gallon cube planed on a hob filter like emperor 400 and then a skimmer like Reef Octopus BH90 hob skimmer. Evey thing is fine but i got a led light and i don't like the bubbles the hob filter makes they get salt all over my led light. I didn't order the skimmer yet need to wait a little longer. Is there a better hob style filter that wont splash my water so much? I have a piece of glass under my led lights atm but i want to get a poly mesh cover soon just to help keep fish from jumping out lost 1 already.

Wow. Would the 400 leave enough room on the back of the tank for a skimmer?

i have the same problem on my tank so i think what im going to do is get a hob fuge probably the cpr. i think this way ill have more room in my display and i can run my reactor on that instead of on the tank.
