Hockey fans: we all know this NHL season is going down the tubes quicker than water pushed by a 100RLT down a 1" drain.
Fortunately, we have the AHL in Rochester. Anybody else around here go to Amerks games?

Trying to stay positive, Walter "the Accordian Man" played great last night. I can't say the same about the guys wearing skates.

I'm not really keeping up with NHL negotiations due to several reasons.
What is going on?

I went to the Amerks game last night. I try to catch a few games a year. Unfortunately, they aren't that great, and they have trouble filling seats. RIT sold the arena out earlier in the year.

The Amerks played like crap. The forwards hung the defense (and the goalie) out to dry on 2 out of the 3 goals.

I'm glad to hear Walter is still playing. Was he in the tunnel (I crossed the street)?. I remember going to games 15 years ago and listening to him play. Good times.

The NHL now has a mediator trying to help them. I'm still hoping for a 41 game season with a full playoffs. Frankly, both sides are to blame. We have billionaires fighting millionaires. Who loses? The fans. The over-expansion into non-hockey markets made it so they have trouble turning a profit, and those owners don't like it. Some sort of profit sharing is going to have to be put in place. The teams like Toronto, Montreal, Rangers, and others are going to have to keep the Panthers, Coyotes, and Blue Jackets afloat. Profit sharing works in baseball very well.

Double post, but while I'm here....

I'm not sure if you're a hockey nut like I am, but if you are, check out Backhand Shelf. http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/

It's not really a blog, but a collection of articles. There are a few contributors, but Justin Bourne (father played in the NHL for the Islanders) really knows what he is talking about. There are lots of good articles about current things, and the history of hockey.

Walter was upstairs garage above tunnel. The kid with the acoustic guitar plays in the tunnel.

I go to a handful of Amerks games each year, too. Unfortunately, they always seem to be playing Toronto (when I go) and the Amerks LOSE to them.

Tip for those that have never gone: Amerks games are very family oriented.
This is a great place to take the family.

Budget conscious folks: get the cheap seats and move ;)

I'm going when we steal them away from you guys on Dec 28th...

Back just following Labor Day, I bet my wife a weeks worth of cooking dinner (we usually split the duty) that we wouldn't be going to Tux and Pucks. Figured it was a win-win bet for me. After the new year when football starts winding down though I'm going to really miss my Sabres :(

I drove up to Rochester for home opene to get my fix. I don't even wAnt this season Any more. Lol watch they start the season, sabers finally go to cup and win, only to have it be on A shortend meaningless season.
