I cant believe I waited so long to change to this type of overflow drain pipe. My tank is silent except the hum from the pump itself. That was the best 3 bucks i've spent in a long time. Koodos to the inventor.

thanks, i came up with the idea one day in school (i was really bored). lol jk can you post some pics? i am not farmilar with this

learn something new everyday... hmm... looks like that will be perfect for my 90gal corner overflow which does not have room for a durso standpipe :D

Thanks!!

I would agree for sure I made one of these to slip right into my lifereef overflow and it made it as quiet as could be; I have made a couple of them so far for friends tanks as well and all are working just fine. I plan on running 2 of these in my new setup as well

These are awesome. I built mine about a month ago. Works way better than my old Durso did. Mine is 2" pipe with a 3" to 2" reducer for the water to enter.

damn 3 to 2, you can definately handle some serious flow. Is it still very quiet that size? im guessing yes since the physics are the same but with liquids you never know.

Do these reduce any sort of flow? Seems like when I put a durso on mine the flow was really reduced and the pump outpumped it.

I havent noticed, in fact if i cover the air hose with my finger the water gets sucked out super fast, so im guessing even if there was a clog like a snail and the water level rose once it gets to the air intake itll suck it down like a toilet flushing.

someone sells them online but I cant remember the vendor, theyre around 20 bucks a piece but you can make a set for under 5 bucks and it's real easy and idiot proof- I did it lol.

Isn't this the same design as what the Lifereef overflows come with from the company? If not how is it different?
