hole in anemone?

Anyone know what might be eating the base of an anemone? This is the second time it has happened. First time was a perfect dime size hole in a rose BT, right in the middle of the bottom of the base, clean through. This time, same location in a LTA, not all the way through though.

Could it be bristleworms?

Thanks for any responses.

I doubt that predation was the cause. The symptoms you decribe are due to stress which could come from a number other things.

Where did you get them? How long did you have them? Did they perish or split? What kind of lighting do you have?

Got them both from LFS in Appleton(Craig's store)
The bubble tip I had last April in a 90 gallon, with Compact flourescents, it was large and healthy, clowns took to it right away.(ocellaris). Fine for two days, then dead. When I removed it, it had a circular hole in the middle of the base, clear through.

The long tentacle I have in a 40 breeder with compact flourescents. When I purchased it was good and sticky, a bit deflated. Once in my tank, it wedged itself between some rock and expanded beautifully. Was fine and stayed in place for about 6 weeks then one day pulled out and has settled on the sand. Last week i found it upsidedown with what appeared to be a nickle size dent in the base, as if something had chewed away at it in a circular fashion.
I had moved last May, so some of the rock in the 40 was from the 90, that is why I think it is possible that the same thing may have eaten them. That, along with the suddeness of the bubble-tips demise.
