Hole in center size of a quater!!!

I got a BTA Anemone around 3 weeks ago. Seemed to be having a hard time acclimating to the lights in my tank. I have a 90 Gal, Nova extreme 8 bulb t-5 setup. He would hide in the rocks during the day and climb at night. Unfortunately one night he got into one of the power heads. I had screens on it too. It actually seemed to get burned on the side of the power head.

After that incident it looked like the bottom of the foot was falling apart. 2 days ago I came home and he was completely deflated and had a hole right through the center the size of a quater. I took him out of my tank and put him into a quarentine tank. under pc lights. I thought he was dead for sure. The last couple of days he has looked better than at any time.

Last night I fed him a silverside and he ate it immediately. I don't know how he could eat without a stomach. He is on the sand in the corner of the tank so I can not see his foot any more.

I guess my question is can he heal himself or is it just a matter of time. The tank has been set up for nearly 6 years. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had a BTA that walked right into a PH...I had to yank it out and ripped part of it off...the next week it was fine. Anemones have the amazing ability of, given the right conditions, being able to come back from the verge of death. If he is looking better and eating, I would say you got very lucky.

The major issue I would greatly concern myself about if I was you is the foot. If it is on the sand and the way you described it had a foot falling apart, this could be very serious. I have seen a few different anemones with foot problems and they never seem to regain the ability to attach. Without that, they are not able to place themselves where they would like to be, they are at the mercy of the currents, and it is many time best just to set up a small hospital tank for it so it doesn't crap-out the system. If the foot is still sticky, no worries.
