Hole placement for returns on a 238

Anyone have holes for their return lines drilled into the back panel of their tank? I was thinking of having mine an inch or two below the eurobracing instead of in the eurobracing. This should mean fewer elbows too. As long as I use quality bulkheads and account for some back-siphoning to the sump, I should be ok. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul

Is this for the open loop or closed loop.
All of my closed loop bulk heads (intake & output) are drilled into the back panel.

These are for my sump returns. The tank, 72 x 30 x 25, will have two 20" external overflows. I'm debating whether to have two or thee holes punched out of the back panel for my returns (at the top). Two would be on the back corners and one in between the overflows if I do three.

I'm using three Vortechs for flow within the tank. I've got a Reeflo Tarpon for my return pump @ ~ 15' of head from my basement.

Thnaks!
