Holy frickin' nice tank...

JJ, thanks for showing me your tank and sump room. Your tank has got to be just about the nicest tank I have seen, either in person or on the internet. Its a day later and I am still in absolute awe by your tank. I have been in discussions with my wife about whether I could move out of our house and see if you would be willing to adopt me. I don't know whether to be inspired or depressed by how crappy my tanks are. I will definately be bugging you again for frags when I get the rest of my tanks moved and settled in.

BTW...thanks for the rock.

Seriously, public comments on a fellow local's tank and hospitality serves 2 purposes.
1. It is almost an informal feedback rating on that's person's overall quality.
2. People learn a little bit about a local reefer they may not have already known.

While you are free to your opinions, making a public admonition over something like this is plain silly. And frankly, give it a rest. The dude had a good experience with a local reefer we all know and wanted to share it with the rest of us.

Thanks man I appreciate your compliments! definitely nice to meet a fellow reefer that lives so close. Like I said anytime you need help setting up your new tank don't hesitate to ask.

Mustybaby- no reason for any of that, people can post what they want as long as it's not offensive. Jdreefer has been in a hobby a long time and has a lot to offer but just doesn't post much. No reason to be rude and run someone off the site.

From the pics in his gallery I would definitely say it is. Which is confusing because Ryan is a super nice guy. He deleted the post, so I didnt read what he said. But Im wondering if it was sarcasm or something that came across the wrong way?

And you were asking me the other day when we met why you hadn't seen me being very active and posting much in this forum? As a general rule, I am in this hobby for peace and relaxation not to deal with little pricks who are trying to be smart or cute on an internet message board.;)

The reason for me posting was just to reiterate to everyone who hasn't seen your tank in person how nice it is. The pics in your anniversary thread, which I had followed, do not quite do this tank the justice it deserves.

I am definately going to take you up on the offer when it gets time to set up the new tank. Better yet, can I just pay you to completely set it up for me?:D Looking at your tank and room just made me realize that I have a lot of planning to do before I am ready. Good thing we just moved in and the basement isn't even finished yet. I have plenty of time...
 
Good lord, folks. I read a message that was written directly to JJ and thought he had hit "new topic" instead of "pm" and thought I'd mention it in a ridiculous way. If he had been telling about a great experience, fine and dandy, JJ's tank IS impressive and he seems to be a hell of a nice guy. However, it looks and sounds like a misplaced private message. Read it again and tell me it couldn't be taken that way.

Why is everyone always so defensive? Sorry, jdreefer, as there was no offense intended. My message was "I think you meant to hit this."

I see a group hug(sans me) coming on here! :lol: I know everyone who has posted in this thread and I think you guys are all pretty cool. Sometimes Ryan's quirky comments could be misconstrued and I believe this is the case.

Ryan, you need to go back to area 51. ;)

The only thing that I'm even remotely angry about regarding this thread is that they censor "*****" but not "pricks".

Sorry for the misunderstanding, everyone. Maybe I'll keep to run-of-the-mill comments on the GIRS forum and leave myself to be flamed elsewhere on reefcentral :)

Sorry, should have added a few more ;) and :lol: to my response. Not offended at all. I suppose how one could read my message the way I phrased it and assume that I meant it for PM. My original comments were meant more as public praise of his tank than a personal message.

And Sone, I refuse to participate in a group hug. My momma told me never to get close to strangers. Plus, someone always gets fondled or groped and then it gets awkward afterwards...

Nah, you'll be fine. None of these guys have the last name of Brokeback. ;)

Double-J is also known at the candyman so you might want to be weary of him! He'll lure you into his home with beautiful corals. The trick is to go over there when his wife is home, you'll feel much safer. :lmao:
 
Bring back the bacon icon! Incidentally, I just bought ATHF volume 2. It doesn't seem as good as volume 1. I wonder if vol. 3 is any good?
 
Well...there was no sign of his wife. And those kids were probably just rented for the day. It looked innocent enough. Nice neighborhood, nice house, nice reef tank...

Although, after I noticed his weightroom I did have to size him up again. In retrospect, there is a good possibility that I wasn't getting out of that place. :eek2: Another reason to be nervous about the group hug, I know how that would turn out for me...:lol:
 
That's what makes it so strange!! It all appears very normal from the outside. I don't feel safe over there so I always call and tell someone that I'll be over there. If I don't call back within the hour, call the cops! :D

Don't be fooled by the weights. I think I use it more than he does when I'm over there. They're just props used for intimidation is all!
 
The new name and icon confused me. I thought you were some outsider trying to violate our circle of trust. Had I known it was you, I would have known you were being a smartass and meant nothing by it.

I apologize for the public tongue lashing. I got your first pint at the next group outing.
