"HOLY Regal Angel Batman!"

This is why local fish stores are so much better to get fish from...

Long story short, i have been looking to get a small Regal Angel and have not seen any Red Sea ones locally; I decided to try mail order and got in today (what I thought was going to be a smaller Regal)...I only have a 40 gallon sps and he is just about 6" long. HUGE and too big for my tank.

He is healthy as can be and already eating. I just c ant keep him as it is just too mean to keep a fish this size in my tank. If anyone is interested and has at least a 120 gallon for this guy, I am letting him go. I paid 140 (included shipping). I would like to get 80. If someone wants a really healthy Regal from the Red Sea (yellow belly), he is great. Im almost tempted to get a bigger tank.

So now, who locally can get me a smaller (3") Regal?

Not to sound rude or anything, but why not look for fish that will fit full grown into that tank?

Just my .02. Good luck finding him a suitable home.

Partially agree..., but dont want to side-track this thread too much. I would never have purchased such a large fish from the store and was told he was very small for a Regal (this one is not). Had he been as told 3", he would have fit perfectly in the tank and Regals take years to grow, plus in this tank he would have stayed that size.

I sent you a pm. Instead of getting on to you about the fact of you putting the fish into the tank you did. Let some of us commend you on the fact that you are finding him a larger home.

Thanks Thor - check your pm box. As I said, I would have never put a fish that size in my tank had I known it was going to be six inches.

This site quickly turns into people offering unwarranted advice, so it comes with the territory.

Beautiful fish. I'm not sure why people get so huffy about it when I'm sure there are things that others don't agree with that they do. Do you have SPS in your tank? I'd take him if they didn't munch on sps.

All I was saying is that I'm a firm believer of stocking fish to a tank that they would fit in for the duration of their lives. These fish (both a smaller regal and your blue tang) will not grow as they should in another tank/wild. Their health will be compromised, and their lives most likely shortened because of this.

I know it was "unwarranted advice" but you posted up that you were looking into getting another one, and I felt I could share my opinion/advice.

jay24k - yes, and many are your frags...lol. In the past, the Regal i have kept didnt eat sps (for the mostpart; there are always bad ones in any bunch) but I have had them eat zoos before and some lps. I still have those nice blue and aqua samoensis frags for you when you make it into the Lake Mary area.

InLimbo - I understand your concern. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and yours is a legitimate concern. I am not going to argue with your sentiments as we have differing opinions on this.

Regardless, I think I found her/him a home, so that is the good news.

It ate some of the ones you got from me? Ouch. Next time I head that way, I'll give you a holler and we can swap or something. Not a problem for me.

I didn't mean to ruffle feathers, just think maybe we should keep some of this to PM's as it does sound a bit harsh on a message board.

Jay -Your frags are all fine, and growing great This Regal just got put in the tank; so hopefully by the time I get home, he hasnt done too much damage. The old one I had years ago ate some of my zoos but not my sps.

Thanks guys.
