Horseshoe crab worries

Roughly 2.5 weeks ago my horseshoe crab (I think) molted. Since then I haven't seen any sign of it The reason I think it molted is that I found the empty shell and it was really empty. The few remnants of the legs were hollow and the shell was completely intact. So I suspect it molted.

Assuming it did molt, when might I see it again? Before this it was pretty active both above and below the substrate. Now there's nothing. I'm starting to get worried.

Would it be a good idea to dig around the tank and find it or should I just let it be and come out on its own assuming it's alive?

Personally I wouldn't have a dig around just in case you hurt him/her I believe crabs are the same as shrimps that when they moult they hide until the new shell hardens up to save predation.

If you haven't seen an ammonia spike it's still likeliest ok but hiding. Aren't they nocturnal, to a certain extent?

I've been testing the ammonia since adding fish and there has been no increase in ammonia, the Salivert test is showing 0.0 ppm.

Yes, they are nocturnal but before the molt I saw it every couple weeks when I came in early on Mondays to do extra work that I can't get done the rest of the week because of time constraints.
