Hose vs Pipe

I have reached the stage in my build that I need to get some input. I would like to use Hose to feed my makeup water and my closed loop system. Are there any benifits or problems with this? When I say hose I mean from a fitting in the bulkhead to a pump fitting. Are there any special hose I can or cannot use? I have a clear hose that I got from Orchard Supply, it has a label that say's:

"Proline 3/4" I.D. 1" O.D. Made in USA 054361345249"

I had some of this on the setup when I freshwater tested it. All the hose that ran freshwater in it has clouded some. As this is the final build I want to make sure it is ok to use or if there is something better? This stuff is kinda stiff but doesn't kink too bad..

Would it be better to use Pvc some of the sump stuff is in Pvc?

Check my other thread's if you want to see pictures of the hose sorta hanging there...:)

I've used allot of hose had no problems but I recommend getting black so you don't have alga growing in it. Any more I prefer PVC

No other input on hose or pvc, huh well I guess it is ok to go with the hose I got.. I am thinking about removing the scwd as it does cut down on the flow, but I like the changing water flow idea what could I build into it to do the same thing. I see alot of stuff about power heads but not much using what I have.

Whatever hose you get...try to get reinforced hose that won't "collapse" or kink...that would be a problem when used on a pump intake. If you get clear hose...wrap some electrical tape around it to prevent algea buildup.

PVC is ok, and preferable in some situations...but it also carries vibration and noise more than hose.

Look into spa-flex as well...a lot of people use it too.

Thank's Java, reinforced is available there also, and I have plenty of electrical tape.... Any idea where youget spa-flex from?
