Hospital tank help please?

Hi, I'm still new to the hobby, and my baby blue tang I bought about a week ago has ich, so I bought a tank and set it up as my little hospital tank, with only the blue tang in it. So I have two questions, will an internal filter provide oxygen and is seachem cupramine a good product?
Thanks everyone!

A HOB filter should be ok. You could also add an air stone if you wanted. Check the stickies at the top of the forum for ich treatments.

Oxygen is taken at the surface, not by the little bubbles. Anything that disturbs the surface of the water will help with gas exchange. Ammonia is a real enemy in a HT; be ready to do a lot of WCs. How big is your HT? If he spent time with any other fish, they need to be treated too. I'd read the stickies by Snorvich at the top of this forum, vital info.

Get one of the stick-on ammonia alert badges; most ammonia test kits don't work with Cupramine. Here's the vital poop on Cupramine, the FAQ are especially informative. http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Cupramine.html. SeaChem has great tech support; don't hesitate to use them.

It sounds like the tang was in your DT. If so; all fish will need to be treated and the DT left fishless for 10+ weeks. Then, quarantine all new fish and never go through this again.

I've seen those little round test stick ons in the pet shop, will get one today.. And the baby tang looks happy in the new tank.. Have you used herbtana for ich? Apparantly it is invertebrate safe.

There is nothing that is invert safe and also cures ich. Such a product would be the discovery of the century for our hobby.

My LFS pushes Herbtana (and for good reason being you have to use it forever ;)).

It's basically just another herbal remedy that supposedly helps your fish cope with Ich. So, I guess you can say it's another Ich management tool. But it won't/can't eradicate the free swimming parasites from your DT's water. So your fish just keep getting reinfected over & over again, even if this stuff does help their immune system fight the parasites off.
