Hospital Tank Question

I posted this in the Fish Disease Forum, but have not gotten a response yet so thought I would try here. When I set up the hospital tank to move my clownfish with an eye injury to, I took the sponge out of my Aqua Clear filter running on another small tank that has been set up for awhile and I put that sponge into the new Aqua Clear filter for the hospital tank. My question is: Is the sponge going to absorb the medicine (Maracyn 2) and lessen the effectiveness of the treatment? Or is it alright to leave the sponge in the Aqua Clear. I am not using the carbon. Thanks.

if it is just the sponge then it is fine. carbon is what will absorb the meds.
