i was wondering if you could run a small hospital tank without a biological filter, just a powerhead.doing daily water changes.keeping in mind that the meds be added with each waterchange at correct levels? short term maybe a week or 2

Yes, I've done it. Just like you've said, it does require very regular water changes. I was doing 10-20% water changes 3-4x per week with a juvenile maroon clownfish in a 10g tank. My ammonia, nitrites and nitrates all stayed at undetectable levels, so that many water changes may not have been necessary. I also made sure to vacuum the bottom of the tank during each water change. There are plenty of medications that will kill your biological filtration anyway.

for short term it would work alright, but I'd consider the size of the fish you're putting in it. If it's something kind of large, try to size the accordingly.
