My system is 60g total and i have my mag7 pump submerged in my sump. I had it external for a while but felt the pump was getting too hot. It was pretty darn hot if you touched it. I put it in my sump and the temp went up about 2-3 deg. Now my tank is getting getting very hot, about 83-84 at the peak. The heat isnt doing any visible damage to corals ( various shrooms, button polyps, frogspawn, hammer) but i dont like it. I was wondering if keeping the pump external and just letting the mag get hot and letting the heat dissipate would be better or maybe reduceing the lights on time (its about 10 hours). I dont want to burn up my pump with it external, i would rather not lower "lights on" time and stunt growth, and chillers not an option. Fans are not really working eather.....ideas?
