86 is fine for a peak.... but it should not maintain there...

You want to maintain at like 84 for the bulk of the day.

Get a fan on that sump.

Can you put a barrier between the equipment and the sump? Thus no salt spray and allows air movement around your sump, decreasing the temp?

Get a fan... a cheap fan.. from your favorite discount store (Wal-Mart, etc)... the clip on type... clip it to the sump and have it come on during the day when your MH's are on.

Just a couple of ideas.

Another thing to consider Matt, and I know from experience, your acrylic WILL warp over time. I'm not talkin a little tiny bit, I'm talking a LOT of warping. The acrylic on the sump might not necessarily warp since there's no high output light (I assume) over it, but the stuff above the MH definately will. Good luck with your temps! :)

i have use acrylic for over two years on my tanks. with MH, it has been fine. only warped about 1 inch, other than that it kinda go brittle and has stayed that way.
