Hotmail email alarms

OK, I'm trying to setup the email alert on an AC III. Seems hotmail has just phased out the pop3 redirect and some company (IzySoft) is now acting as a redirect for $11/year.

Before I send off my credit card details...anybody else using this service?

Is there some other work around?

I primarily use msn hotmail but also have a work email (not sure I want my AC sending tank alerts there) and a verizon phone with text messaging.

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to send email messages to my Verizon phone.

However, the way I have the AC setup, my originating email is currently my hotmail account. I used the mail.pop3 workaround to send message via the AC Aquanotes software. The messages are sent to my vtext account on Verizon.

I have not set the AC III up to directly send emails......yet. Still tring to figure that one out.

You should need to pay for a pop redirect as pop is for incoming email. For your email address just set the smtp server to mx1.hotmail.com, and AquaNotes or the AquaController should be able to send you an email.

Oops, I misread your post; I thought you were trying to send an email to a hotmail account. Just put your ISP smtp server into the AquaController email smtp server setup, and then you should be able to send a email to your phone. You'll also need to enter the email from and email to fields in the controller.

Thanks Curt.....what do I use for authorization?

I was previously using my hotmail account with the mail.pop3.com pop server ID (it worked up until Friday).

Do I use my verizon authorization?
