That was the most intense lightning I've ever seen, like flash bulbs going off every 5 or 10 seconds. 3+ hours power outage here; have a relay hooked up to house power with the other leg going to an inverter supplied by a deep cycle marine battery. Powers my recirc pump for about a day and a half - a UPS was prohibitively expensive for that kind of capacity (I need it for peace of mind since I might be out of town during an extended outage, travel somewhat frequently). The homemade system cost all of about $80, works well. But what a great light show! - even got my 5 y.o. daughter out of her room, scared of all the lighting/thunder (first time that ever happened). Reminded me of growing up in the midwest. But this storm topped anything, in terms of lightning, that I've seen even there.
