I want something to swim around alot, but it is a VERY peaceful tank, I heard they can be kinda aggressive.
how aggressive are 6 line wrasses

I thought mine was real peaceful, until I added a barletts anthias to the tank. He chased the poor thing down, and beat the living crap out the poor guy. The barletts has found a way to get into the overflow area, and has been removed for the third time back to display. Yep, he was in there again, so owell, let it go until I find the little guy a new home. Other than that, I love my six-line, and he would stay in the tank regardless. They are so cool to watch, and have great personality.

I had 2 the first was chasing around a Mandarin Goby that was not eating too well. But still was overall a good fish till he tried some acrobatics and ended up being wrasse jerky on my floor. The replacement 6 line wrasse has been a model citizen. Doesn not start anything but at the same time nobody picks on it.

My sixline is in its own world. just roaming around swimming and darting in holes. If anyone trys any thing silly, it holds it ground... water? Eats frozen foods and is really fat now. colors are amazing.

cool. Going in with a clown, firefish, bangaii, goby(not sure what kind yet), and a royal gramma.

after they have established themselves in the tank. then they can become bullies. all the ones i had got this way,and recomend that the six line is one of the last fish in the tank. i had one almost murder a swissgard basslet i had put in the tank after him,
and the basslet was almost twice his size. luckily i had another big tank to put the basslet in. if your thinking of still putting more small peaceful fish like gobies in there ,then put them first.

I have a "peaceful tank" so I was concerned about adding a wrasse to the mix. I was told the "six line wrasse are one of the most peaceful OF THE wrasse." Ive had good luck with him. I like how he flows thru rocks and keeps to himself.
If do you get one I agree with someone here who said put him in later after other small fish B4 "they have established themselves in the tank.

The six line is not the most peaceful of the wrasse, when put size to size they are mid to high. try a possum wrasse - now that is a peaceful wrasse - here is a little infromation on the six line -
"it is also not uncommon for these diminutive fish to become rather boisterous to the extent of becoming hostile. Once established in the aquarium, mixing additional fish, or even shrimp, can be an exercise of futility. Smaller fish may be consumed, while fish of equal size or slightly larger are likely to be harassed".
If you are only adding larger fish after this point or this is your last fish you will be adding - then you might be able to get away with the six line. You have a fairly peaceful tank and adding the six line might upset things. It's kind of a flip of the coin with this guy.

Having another fish beat another fish and letting it happen is the same as watching a **** fight - we outlawed that years ago.
Playa - thanks for taking the time and doing your reseach before making your purchase. I have 5 wrasses and they are wonderful fish to watch. Here is an article on these guys and good luck -

i have a cryptic sixline now and is the most peaceful wrasse i have ever had. for a small tank is my favorite wrasse. and its stays very small , about half the size of a regular sixline. the problem is its a very hard to come by little wrasse, and more expensive. way worth the money though. if you want to see how one looks like their is a picture in the marinecenter.com

I think you guys scared me off... I dont want to spend more than 39 bucks on a fish though, that is my absolute max... I think he will fight with the gramma too much when I get him too.

just planning way in advance. my girlfriend kind of was like what about the cute one (gramma) <puppy eyes> when I said I was getting a bangaii first, so I kinda have to get one lol. I really want one anyways though, I just want to add him last.
