how aggressive are GSM?

I have a well stocked 225g tank consisting of wrasses, tangs, anthias, angels and few other fish and was wondering how a pair of gold stripe maroon clowns will fair...actually, how the other fish will fair. I've heard that the maroons can be quite aggressive and territorial. What is their general behavior and temperament? Will having a BTA help? Do pairs show less aggression then singles?

I used to have a pair of B&W Ocellaris and they never bothered anyone and vise versa.

thanks in advance for any help!

Mating pairs are the very worst.

What you can expect is the female will decide about 30g area of the tank around her anemone is hers and she will do her best to keep that 30g clean of anything she doesn't like. She will take an intense disliking for any coral or rock you try to add to the area and possibly preexisting corals. She can move rocks you'd never have imagined a little fish could move. They will not let most other fish come into this space.

If you have space for this, they are very cool :D

Pairs are usually more aggressive. Pairs with an anemone are usually even more so. In my experience tank bred pairs are MUCH less aggressive than their wild caught counterparts.

Despite being warned away from them by most everyone I talked to, I have a pair of white striped maroons in my 155G. They are tank bred and do not have an anemone. They do have their territory, it seems to occupy about 20 gallons worth of tank, and will occasionally physically remove a snail, but do not bother anything else.

They are very aggressive. They will not allow anything near whatever anemone that they choose to associate with.
