how aggressive coral banded shrimp?

Has anyone had experience with Coral banded shrimp eating corals?

No never had one eat corals, but I have had them eat cleaner shrimp.

Mine must be really tame because it lets the cleaner shrimp clean itself, hehe. The CBS 3" length and has molted once.

I have two coral banded and two cleaner shrimp---no troubles in over a year now.
The one draw back with coral banded is that they only come out a dusk and at night. If you like to show off things in your tank to other people that's kind of hard with them.

However they will make an exception if a piece of raw shrimp comes thier way

I've kept CBS with other shrimp/fish/corals in numerous tanks. Never had a problem.

I feed mine once every other day with frozen Mysis. I have never fed them a big chunk of shrimp like a cocktail shrimp.

I have a gold one in my 90 that is really peaceful and even cleans some of the fish, but I have another regular red/white one in my anemone tank that I need to take out. I've caught him picking on the nems a couple times.

I have had one in my 90 reef for about a year with a cleaner and a lot of LPS and Softy corals. He/she never really bothers anything. Chases the cleaner sometimes but just being a little territorial I think. I feed them Shrimp of all kinds about once a week. I don't feed as often as most others, but this is to keep them cleaning the tank. I have even watching the CBS eating small bristle worms when their population is too big.

spot feed them? never---they always seem to get the left overs.

I have a BIG coral banded, and she's a very well behaved girl. Despite being just about the largest thing in the tank (if you take her claws into account), she's very shy. I rarely spot feed her, but she never bothers a thing and moults regularly so I know she's getting enough to eat. I don't know if some of us just get lucky, but I'm always surprised to see posts where someone has issues with a CBS - IME they're very shy creatures that stick to themselves and are far less bothersome in a reef (from a hungry coral's point of view, as well as some fish) than skunk cleaners.

They won't eat your corals, though a brave one may try to steal food from one. They're easily shoo'd away though. I had one for a long while in my tank and it was a model citizen. Sometimes I would spot feed her, but most often she'd be able to catch food on her own during feeding time. They're awesome shrimp. I'd get another if I didn't worry some of my fish would eat it.

Mine never messed with corals, but he would pinch me if i got too close while cleaning the tank. It was with a cleaner shrimp and both were fine.

I've never heard of that before. Mine is no trouble. In fact, I have had it for 2 years and have seen it 3 times
The only reason I know it is still in there is from a recent tank move.
What do you think is snacking on ?

The first time I dropped a couple of pieces of krill into the tank my harlequin bass went bananas and went right at the CBS. I thought the CBS would be toast but without hesitation, the CBS defended itself by snapping back and then chasing the bass all around the tank - not a single fish in the tank messes with the CBS, if anything they're a bit afraid of those claws.

I hand feed it a piece of krill for kicks about every week or two (mostly when I'm feeding the sun coral and I bait the CBS away) - otherwise it eats leftovers.

I've had a CBS now for over 3 years. He has never tried to harm a single thing except his food and the odd bristle worm.

Sure, here you go - not a great pic, and a bit larger than life size. There are some zoas and a couple Majano anemones in the pic for size reference, if that helps. I'm sure she's not nearly as big as they come, but she's one of the largest CBS I've seen. This is about as visible as she gets in the tank; every night after the halides shut off, she hangs out under this rock looking for handouts.

I had one for about a year molted 13 times when i had it. Ate a fish and i got a ywg, looked like he would have got him so i took it back.
