would they be too aggressive to live in a 75g with various wrasses, and swollowtail angel, a group of firefish, a YWG, a pair of percula clowns and various other peaceful fishes?

thats what I thought. sigh. well, I guess Ill ust have to wait until I can provide the proper enviorment for one. thanks for the help!

The orchid dottyback is one of the least aggressive dottybacks. Mine was only aggressive is another fish came near its den. It would just chase them away but not do any damage.

I think I should probably pass, because even if most are not as aggressive, they are still a dottyback, and I dont want to lose any of my firefish or any other fish.

Are we talking the purple or the blue and orange striped dottyback? My purple is the least aggressive fish I have.

yeah, I really dont want to lose him, he is one of my favorite fishes.

am I correct in assuming that a 6g tank would be too small?

I had a strawberry gramma aka orchid or magenta dottyback and it was in a 46 gallon bow front with three leopard wrasse, before the leopards a 6 lined wrasse, and three firefish. He was a model inhabitant and I actually saw very little of him. There was also a mandarin and flame angel, as well as a lawnmower blenny at one time, but I was always swapping fish. The firefish and wrasse were int here with him over 6 months, before I moved and took down the tank and there was no incident.

My Sankey's dottyback is one of the most peaceful fish in my tank. And is a close relative of P. fridmani BTW, which is reportedly less aggressive.
I've heard reports of bullying TOWARD orchids. Still wrasses are egg predators & dottybacks guard their eggs. Natural enemies on the reef..
