how are you controling a bubble algae is a sps tank..

My tank was infested with the stuff, added a foxface and it is all gone now. Emerald crabs didn't really touch the stuff but they have kept the rocks clean since the foxface has done its thing. Have not seen it bothering the SPS.

I still have SOME BA. I must say that Im actually tackling this problem pretty quick. Im blowing off the rocks and sucking up the bubbles with my python tube. So far....not a lot of new growth.

I've 3 short spine urchins and they mow down any and all algae they can get. Bubble, hair, cyano, and coraline. They coraline grows back.

My Halloween Urchin eats any kind of algae that gets in it's path. Had some awful turf algae that came in on some Bali Aquaculture plugs. The urchin has almost eliminated all of it.

TANGS!! Red sea purple tang to be exact. Personally, I'll manually remove the obvious ones with every water change. When I accidently pop a few the tang will usually eat the "shell". I've noticed they have a problem getting their jaws around the bigger "bubbles" so if you pop it, consider it chow for the tang.
The smaller "baby bubbles" are easily consumed by my tang.
Not only does the tang eat bubble but it'll eat other algae too, their great at pecking at the rock all day getting watevers, which is important bc algae growth saps your MAG levels!!

In combination with my tang, I have a long spined urchin which are monsters when it comes to eating algae.

good luck dude -

strangely enough, my purple tang also eats the bubble algae, didn't expect him to.

But he only eats it as a last resort. I have to starve the tank in order for him to go after Bubble algae.

I have used the emeralds they never seemed to work. I manually remove, Plus my emperada eats them. I used to have a blond naso he would go nuts after them.

if you get emerads, you need to get the larger ones >1". the little ones don't have big enough claws to eat the bubble algae.

1. Cooking rock? Doesn't work. Bubble algae hangs on long after the rocks are otherwise bare.

2. Foxface? I have no doubt that some eat it. Mine has never touched the stuff.

3. Red Sea Sailfin Tang? Again, mine never goes after it, although I have seen him eat small bubbles once I have knocked them loose.

I regularly remove the BA manually when siphoning detritus.
