How bad did i mess this up.

I got a beautiful, and I mean Beutiful 100lb rock assortment from TB Saltwater last week with 2 Candelabra Gorgonians, one white one brown.

Well I added the rock when it arrived and next day did a 15 Gallon water change (90 Gallon tank). Everythign was out and looked great, both Gorgonians all the filter feeders including a ton of cool Barnicals. Well being the over aggressive sort I thought I would do another water change in 24hrs to just help things mellow out. So the next day I did a 20 Gallon change. As soon as I did all the Barnicales stoped opening up and the white Gorgonian stopped opening, this was 3 days ago now and still no action from them.

The brown Gorg is still strong and all the corals are out with feeders extended and the ones that were white tipped from the stress of the shipping have thier color back so I do not know why the Gorg and the Barnicals are not doing well. What did I miss??? I get my water pre mixed at the LFS.

0 Nitrates and 0 Ammonia, 81 Degrees, .024 Salinity Phosphate might be a little high, have not checked but I always seem to have phosphates lurking.

Any help would be great.

Probably just a bit of shock from the water change....when your parameters are all ok, there is no reason to do a water change, other than a small one every month or two......they will most likely come around after they adjust to the water...

But you never know about outside water sources, could have been an issue with the water you purchased...best to get your own salt mix, and a rubbermaid...and when you do want to make a water change, mix it yourself....put an air stone in it and bubble a couple of days....and then change water, then you are sure of the source and quality of your water.

Let them mellow out by not doing anything for a while. I'd say give them a few weeks to get acclimated. If you do any WC don't change it all at once. Do 10 wait a couple hours and do the other 10.

thanks for the responses, think I am going to get a new power head or an additional one to create more flow around it also. I fanned it with my hand this morning and alot of white debris came off it. Might be algae collectign or it could be shedding, not sure what shedding means.

The shedding is a defensive posture ...it did not like your water.....is what they do when stressed....he will be ok....

Well, the entire outer hard layer is gone now, exposing the flesh, a small bit of skeleton is exposed on a branch, going to try to get the tank temp lower and get more flow on it. See if it bounces back.
