How bad is high Ca?

So, I've tested most all the things I can on the 75g. tank and everything is within my target range except Calcium. It's off the charts. What should I do here? I've got corals in there that use Ca, should I just let them use it up or do I need to change out some water? Keep in mind though that I'm currently working my way through a bucket of Oceanic, so the new water will have lots of Ca too.

It doesn't register at all? Do you have a different test kit? Alkalinity isn't super low? If alk and pH are in line, I wouldn't worry too much and let it get used up.

I used salifert and IO's both. On the Salifert kit, I used all of the reagent in the 1ml syringe and the color still didn't change. On the IO, I kept adding drops until the color changed. I think it came our somewhere around 800. I lost track and was adding drops to see if it would ever change.

I read on the chemistry forum that high calcium will not hurt livestock/corals directly. The only thing it will do is precipitate when it reaches a certain threshold. The precipitation could damage pumps or cover corals/ which would indirectly damage them if not blown off.

you sit back.....and let it drop on its own. It will do so.

You can also do water changes to help bring it down.

Have you been dosing calcium?

Paul.
