How best to connect two 6095 pumps, one with controller, one doesn't

Hi Roger (or anyone who may have the answer),
I bought two Tunze 6095 nanostream pumps from two different sources. One is an older version who has just the controller connector port on the cable for an external controller and one that has a controller built-in. The instruction is not clear to me but is there a cable that I can buy to connect the built-in controller from the newer vintage 6095 to the connector port on the older 6095? So that I can use the wave functions, feed timer, etc. for both pumps. I actually have an external 7092 controller that has two controller cables that I tried out with the two pumps and it works great to create an 1 inch wave on my 180 gallon tank but with all the wiring tangled up under the tank, it just seems much cleaner and hopefully one less point of failure if I connect the two pumps directly as described above. I can't seem to be able to find such a cable if that's all I need. Thanks!!

Peter

I just tested if this will work and it does but with somewhat limited functionality as you would generally use the other pumps controller set to extern to set it to inverse or synchronous mode. It works in wave mode but seems to stay in inverse. The cable is 7092.300, Bulk Reef Supply stocks them.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the quick response! So, for my application, I will have one pump on each end of the tank, facing each other, is that what you have tested? And is this the inverse mode that you were referring to? If so, that's exactly what I need. And I have tested this configuration with the 7092 controller to produce an 1 inch wave. I just don't want to have another piece of equipment that could go bad and the extra space needed to keep it under the tank.

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks. I was a bit concern how fast they switch on and off, like a half second each. Is that safe for the pump? Also, the newer pump (one with the built-in controller) makes a pretty loud clicking sound, while the other one (without a controller) that I had running just one speed (highest with the 24V jumper) for about a week is very quiet. Is that normal for the newer pump, perhaps just breaking in?

The only harm to the pump is they will build up calcium faster than if they just cycled between speeds. It is best to break them in by running them at full speed for a couple weeks, clicking when new is usually due to the parts being stiff.
