How big a fish room for 6'x30"x24" tank?

YOU have been ignored!
Hi everybody. Just kicking around a few ideas. My wife and I finally agreed IF I did get a bigger tank it would be in the wall. The wall I have picked out is an exterior wall and I'm thinking of a small room addition just big enough for the fish room. I don't have a LOT of space to work with, approximatley 8 ft or so till the property line I think. To be honest I don't know exactly.

Anyways I would like for it to be big enough that I can get back there and service the thing and thats about it. I think the big thing is humidity and cooling since I live in Tampa.

I would also like to have a sink and a drain in the floor etc.

So what do you guys think is the minimum size I could get away with?

Thanks,
Chris

you really need to make it as big as possible. you have alot more choices if the room is bigger. you can install frag tanks, hospital tanks. and other larger items that are nice to have in a fish room. let alone a sink and small work counter. also you will want a bigger tank down the road. it may be 2 years or it may be 4 years. but you will want one. lol

1'st you need to know the setback restrictions. Then build to that. Make it as big as possible.

Your talking the property line thing right??? :)

Yo Chris,
You need to check with Tampa or Hills County for the space required between your residence and the property line (setback restrictions). That will tell you how much room you have to build with, then make it as large as functionally possible. Don't forget an A/C unit.

In Hillsborough, I think if it's a wood structure, you can build right up to the property line.. Now the real question is, how can you build an adequate fish room for a tank that deep with only 8'.. You may also want to check a survey and get the EXACT measurement so you don't end up encroaching on your neighbor..
