How big a T5 fixture should be?

Hello everyone,

I have a dilemma and I need help, I'm starting a new SPS tank and I have decided to buy an ATI t5 fixture for it but I'm having a hard time to decide the right size to get, the tank will be 60lX27,5wX20h. Should I go with 10x80 or 8x80.

Thanks,

Renato.

I run 8 T5 HO on my 65G and its perfect.

ATI has really good reflactors so I'm sure 8 will be enough, ALTHOUGH, getting a fixture with 10 bulbs will give you room to add more actinic for better coloration :)

in situations like this, the more is better, so I let my wallet decide :) haha
but 8 will work too :)

Thanks Allmost,

I'm thinking just like you, I'm thinking that as long as the size of the fixture isn't bigger than the tank it's just a matter of $$$$$:eek2:.

Renato.

If you have a Euro Braced tank the 60" fixture will give you reflections bouncing off the bracing. Ive heard its better to run the 48" on that style tank. If your tank is rimless the full 60" fixture will work best. Again, for the 8 or 10 bulb decision. If its euro braced Id go 8 bulb. Non euro braced Id do 10 bulb.
