How can I get a scallop out of a rock safely? Hydroids too.

Yesterday I took apart my 30 gal reef to get out 2 rocks with hydroid colonies on them. Carefully inspected the rest and put it all back together. One rock I don't care about, fairly new with little growth, other than the hydroids. The other rock is my blennies favorite, but more importantly has a scallop in it. One I've had for years. I went ahead and put it in my gsp tank since all the rock in there is stripped daily anyway, but I want to get out my scallop without hurting it. How do I do that? Plus I noticed it has a couple hydroids on it's shell. So when I do get him out what can I do about that? All help is appreciated.
