How can I run carbon without a filter?

I am planning on running carbon from now on in my 20g reef, as I've heard it can minimize the amount of particles floating on the surface/in the water column.

However, all I'm running for filtration is a powerhead and a HOB protein skimmer (Prizm... I know I know), no sump.
How would I run carbon? Can I put a bag in one of the skimmer chambers?

I've used one of those cheap HOB filters and removed the filter pads and put a bag of carbon in that and it worked great.

You coulkd try placing a mesh bag filled with carbon right on the spillway of the prizm (where the water returns to the tank)

just make sure there is flow through the carbon, most of the time, water will take the path or least resistance which is around the carbon.
