How can/why?

rogergolf66

im an addict lol
Ok I have 3 different corals 1 pink bird and Ora green bird and red cap all what appears to be very slow rtning from the base but all growing like crazy at the top/ ends. I have a ton of flow. corals r over a year old all all other 60 or so sps corals r doing great other then those 3.

So far

1. I changed salt mixes
2. Changed all filters in RODI even though they where not old.
3. Cleaned out water holding tanks.
4. Dosing amino acids korallen zuchet

Any ideas what I can/ should try to fix it?
What could be causing this?

I think I'm going to over the next few weeks do rather large water changes and get basically all new water in the system.

No pests that I can see. I do have a ton of baby astria stars that get on the rtning areas of the corals but I don't notice them before this. I have added a harliquin shrimp to eat them up just in case.

First step in trouble shooting includes posting all parameters even if you think they look fine.

Next an images never hurts.

Ok I keep a log of my parameters I know every measurement for the last 2 years an any given day. I keep up and get new test kits regularly and test the kits against other test kits to make sure accurate.

Currently

Alk 7.9 I have been working to lower it to 7.0 since I'm thinking about going zeovit used to maintain at 9.2 ish problem started before lowinging
Cal440
Ph 7.8-8.0 was 8.1-8.35 I was using clear Kalk but switching back to 2 part again for zeovit. This is why ph is now lower. Problem started before switch
Nitrates 10 was .2 salifert. I raised them slowly intentionally to see if nutrients where to low causing the problem
PO4 .00 Hanna

Water changes about 15 % every week to 10 days

I don't ever test mag as the past salt I was using is high in mag and I do reg water changes

I did get a potassium kit salifert since it is a test zeo uses. It came out low at 350 I posted there they thought it was the kit but I don't know anyone around here with another kit to test the test kit. They said they knew my new salt water was 400 and it also came out at 350 so maybe they r correct.

What else would u like to know. I have searched really well and can't see any pests.

I will work on pics

ok here are some pictures.

also weird thing is they are all easy to keep sps and my harder to keep acros maybe doing better then they have ever done.

any ideas?

Have you looked into something bothering them? A bad acro crab? I have had all my birdsnest die all at once but other acros be totally fine.

As the coral grows bigger, the light exposure to the base is limited & it usually turns white. Think this is happening?

This is what I thought was happening a few months ago. As I mentioned it is happening very slowly. But there's light on the pink birds nest no reason for to be doing it this Extreme

having .00 phosphates can starve the coral and cause them to rtn from the base up.

One of those BN looks very pale and the Monti looks a tad pale as well. So yeah I would consider that you're slowly starving them as an option too.

Thank you for the images and parameters.
