I bought used PFO ballasts used a while ago and I am wondering how to tell if they are HQI or magnetic. Anyone know how to tell? There is no model numbers or anything like that on the outer casing.
Thanks
The ballast should have a sticker on it that has a model/part number on it. If it does not you should open the outer casing to see which ballast is inside. The ballast coil will have a sticker on it listing the type.
You can also try plugging in the ballast without a lamp connected.
If the ballast makes a low sound hums itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s a standard ballast.
If the ballast makes a high pitch sound along with a hum the ballast is a HQI or Pulse Start. You should open the casing to see which ballast it is (HQI or Pulse Start).
