How close can an SPS be to a Zoa\Paly?

I think the title says it all, how close can an SPS be to a Zoa\Paly? I have some zoa's that have been creeping up on my SPS and they are practically touching, should I trim back the zoas?

You will run into this type of questions more and more as your tank matured. In the wild, corals are constantly fighting for space. I have zoas touching the base of sps and depending on the size of the sps, if they are big enough, they will shade the zoas and the sps will be ok. If your sps is still small then I would trim back the zoas or build a small epoxy wall to keep them away to give your sps time to mature.

In my experience z and p's and sps get along. Ive never seen them sting or kill each other.

Also what type of sps? Acropora, montipora, etc.

I've never had an issue Acropora sp. next to Zoanthid sp. or Palythoa sp..

Check These pics out Eagle Eye Zoas next to a Jakarta Slimer. Notice the Slimer poking out of the water, very cool.

Thanks, Ill keep a close eye on them and probably end up cutting a few off in the next week or so. They are AOG zoa's close to a fairly small Pink Lemonade. That is cool seeing the slimer grow out of the water. I might have to try that.

The pink lemonade is pretty tough, it should be able to handle the zoas very well. AOG is a fast grower too so let them duke it out :D
