How do Diamond Gobies feed?

My Goby sifts through the sand continuously. But when I put prepared foods in the tank he takes them in and it comes back out of his gills. I'm just worried he isn't eating enough. If I put food in front of his burrow he seems to eat it. I feed mainly Mysis shrimp and blood worms.

Mine sifts all day long, but he goes crazy when I feed. I use mysis shrimp and prepared omnivorous food. My goby eats both, but when he takes it, it does not come out his gills like the sand does. I might be a little worried if you see food come out his gills because he is not eating it then. Maybe he is getting enough from the sand bed, though.

mine sifts the sand and eats whatever i put in tank. hes a PIG! have you tried soaking the food in garlic? imo, if its coming out the gills, chances are hes not getting much of the food. i would imagine small bits, but when my goby eats anything but sand, nothing comes out of his gills; it goes into his tummy :)

My diamond Goby does the same thing, he sifts sand all day long and when I feed flake to the other fish he eats the food and you can see it go through his gills. I've had mine for about three months and he doesn't look any smaller and he seems happy.

I have a bullet or banded boby, essentially the same thing but swims up and around more.
he eats everything, but when he takes it, it does not come out his gills like the sand does.
