How do I calibrate this TDS meter?

I got this TDS meter with the settup I bought last year, and I put batteries in and it works, just don't know how to calibrate it.

Any info anyone???

Get some distilled water from the store and place the meter in and hold down the button ?? I am guessing... maybe someone else can confirm...

That's my understanding and what I calabrate my TDS on.

RO will have a TDS of more than 0 normally though.

What about other brands of TDS meters. Do they use a calibrating solution of a known TDS value because in reality no RO/DI system will produce a TDS value of absolutely zero.

You need to get some calibration solution. Hanna makes some that's 1382 ppm, or something along those lines. Check out Hanna's web site for instructions on how to calibrate.

I think a few of the hydroponic stores around town carry the calibration solution.

Yep .. what he said. You need to calibrate with a known standard. I thyink theres a hydro store up on morse? "garden indoors"?

However, I'm a cheap SOB and I calibrate on a sliding scale. I test tap water, and a friends RO. If RO water is <10 .. and the tap water is ..well, alot....i'm happy. Its far from pinpoint accurate, but its sufficient for me when testing my RO.

Taco I think your right because when I hold down on the on/off button it flashes cal and then flashed 1382. I'm going to try to get some on that calibration soln. and see what happens.

calibration fluid is the way to go.
not too expensive either.
