How do I catch my damsel?

I want to get my Damsel out of my DT, but that little bugger is quick and hides way to well. Taking my rock work apart isn't an option. But how do I get it out?

A framing-hammer works well. Just smack the front glass with it. After the water stops pouring out, reach in carefully (mind the broken glass) and pluck him out. Of course, this is hell on the other inhabitants, but it works every time.

Good luck.

I had this same exact problem with my yellow damsel. we had two people and we feed it. it then came up for food and the other person took a net and got it out of the water. we tried for 2 hours and finally got it. we also had alot of live rock i'n there. I don't know if this would work for you.

Leave the net in the water for a while so he gets use to it.. then he's not so quick to hide when he sees it moving..

I vote for a 12 gauge. Just dump a little food in the tank and wait for him to come out. When he does let him have it. There is nothing like shooting fish in a barrel.

Make a trap out of a 20 oz soda bottle. Google homemade fish trap it will show you how to cut the top, then bait it. Cheap and it will work. I have used this on my 110 gallon for the same use. If you trap the wrong fish, just simply let it go until you get the damsel.

As much as I would love to use the 22-250 or 12g I am pretty sure that all other fish would suffer death as a side effect.

Thanks :) This should work perfect.

A fish trap with a mirror on the back wall. Great for aggressive fish.

Or, a very small hook and line. If you like the fish, remove the barb, if you REALLY want it gone, don't ;)

lol, has anyone ever actually done this? I do have small hooks that would work.....

I'd try it right before the framing hammer. Actually I think it could work if you can keep the fish you want to keep away from the hook.

How I ended up doing it is by cutting the top off of a one liter coke bottle and setting it at the bottom, open end up, with a rock in it to hold it down. I then dropped some food into it and the fish followed the food down. Once in there I just lifted the bottle out and voila` fish out. They tend to swim sideways and not up, so this gives you time to snatch the bottle out. Of course, if this hadn't work, next up was the shotgun or framing hammer solution. Whoda thunk those cute little blue fish could be such bu**heads.
