I saw a fascinating post, I think by Anthony Calfo on the MD Forum, that suggested the following:
(1) create a low spot in your sand bed
(2) using a spare pump, pump out most of the water from the tank (yes, almost the entire tank)
(3) just scoop up the poor fishy from the remaining water in the low spot
(4) refill the tank with the same water.
He said that exposing the corals to air for a little bit was no big deal.
