How do I decrease my population.....

red clay

I have way more of the typical mushrooms than I would want.

They are taking up room that I could use for other coral....and they are attached to really big pieces of rock.

You can put kalk paste on them, there's some instructions if you do a search, but it's going to be messy... You could try just cutting them off with a razor and then kalk'ing what's left.

only time i have had good luck with eliminating unwanted shrooms is with a wire brush. you need to make sure that no tissue is left

That's one of the best ideas I've heard so far, especially if you're siphoning out while you're scraping. I've never been too big on kalk since it can mess up ph and chemistry, especially in smaller tanks.

magnoliapark and biecacka, you don't want this problem. they are as bad as the yellow polyps and the dang serpent stars that came in the rock!

But thank you for all the info. I have been scraping them up with a box cutter and will wait to see what happens. I have only done this with a few.

I am going to sale a huge rock of the srooms. Will probably get $3 for it. LOL

Thanks again for all your help. Not new to the hobby, but broke the tank down 2 weeks ago without any hiccups (fingers crossed)
