My pulsing xenia is massive. How do I 'trim' it?

It's starting to take over my tank.

Also how do I frag green star polyps do I just cut it with scissors?

GSP has a hard mat underneat, u can cut and glue.

Xenia, when I used to grow them, I would cut them all off the rocks and glass, place them in a mesh bag, in front of a power head.

let them sit for a day, they attach themselves to mesh bag, then cut pieces, and tie the bag to a rock, let it grow more and sell :)

or you can jst place frag plugs around it, let it grow on the plug, then remove those plugs and replace with new ones.

GL.

For xenia I chop a head off with a pair of scissors then rubberband it to a frag, usually 2-3 days its attached enough to remove the rubber band. good to go.

GSP rougly the same thing. scrape a chunk off.... rubber band.... remove rubber bad & good to go. sure you may kill a couple pieces where the rubber band it, but GSP isnt exactly a LE high dollar item.

I've got the point now where I cant even give the stuff away, so quite a few xenia heads have been fragged to the trash can just to prevent tank take over.

Lol, thats what you get for puttin such invasive species in your tank....
Both can be cut, sliced, scraped, glued, pinned and rubberbanded to anything.
You cant kill those if you tried.....
Get yourself a razorblade and some superglue and go to town, trim heavy and dont be afraid.

You can clip them with sharp scissors, and place in a container of rubble [placed in your tank] and they will attach in 24-48 hrs. [95-100% success rate as long as the colony is healthy]
Also you can take rubble or frag plugs and lay against the xenia stalks. They will climb up and attach usually in 2 days or so. [also 100% success rate]
By placing rubble next to your colony as a fence to "contain the herd", as they climb up the "fence" you have a sell-able frag with no real effort, and you can keep the colony from running across your tank.
