how do I kill cotton candy algae?

If anyone has any tips, please let me know. The algae hasn't taken over my entire tank, but it is driving my crazy.

It is pink and fuzzy just like cotton candy.

You need to manually remove all the red you can, but don't do it by hand, it will break apart and spread worse. I use a syphon tube and scrape/suck at the same time. In conjunction with the manual effort, you need to get several mexican turbo snails, the larger the better. Keep the algae short and the turbos will mow it down.

Use a syphon tube to remove as much as you can and introduce Mexican Turbo Snails, they devoure the stuff like candy. Two turbos can clean up a 55 in about a week.

I am going to try and add a small turbo snail. The cotton candy is only in my nano, and I am nervous about letting a turbo snail loose with all my precious zoas. I am going to cross my fingers and hope for the best!!!!

As the article I posted suggests not all turbos eat the red algae. They need to be of Pacific origin.
