how do i lower phosphates?

I am having trouble lower my phosphates in my tank. it is reading at 1.0 and i use the red sea test kit. i do weekly 20 percent water changes with RO water as the replacement water. i dose kalkwasser and i also dose iodine and magnesium on occasion. i am now using phos-ban 150g of it and it hasen't really touched the phosphate level. it's only a 55gal. could the kalkwasser be reacting with something like the potassium iodide in the iodine to produce PO4 or what else could be wrong i can't figure it out? oh i also use instant ocean salt. i don't feed my fish and there is only a kole tank and a blue devil damsil.

the ro water had like no phosphates so it's got to be something in the tank

i put the phosban in on last friday and i am wondering if maybe it is just taking a really long time to come out

I started my tank up with tap water and tested real high for phosphates.I used a Phosphate spunge in my filter and Phos buster liquid for three days and then checked it.It was almost undetectable.Still a little but went down by 90%.

Are you having a algea problem with the phosphates being high? Depending on your bottom it could take alittle bit to get out of the sand.
