how do i put starboard onto bottom of tank?

i intend to place a piece of plastic (not starborad actually, 1/4" PVC sheet). on the bottom of this tank. how should i do it? do i need to seal it onto the floor with silicon, or can it just sit on the bottom?

you can just let it sit in the botton the weight of the rocks will keep it down

Make sure its not laying on the silicone seams (on the bottom) though. It could make them leak later because of the pressure.

ok. i have pondered it some more. i think that i want to have the PVC come right up flush to the vertical panes of glass and i think that i will glue it to the floor. i think that i will use a file to put a round bevel on the bottom edge so that it won't press against that silicone seal. does this sound ok?

will acrylic work? with it being clear you might get algea growth under the panel. you could seal it while its unfilled and dry to solve that problem. otherwise I thought thats why starboard was used, so you couldnt see through it.

I would seal it you dont want unwanted algae growing. I have this problem I bought a tank from glass cage. ( very bad workmanship)

Cut it 1/2" less than inside dimensions, then silicone it around the edges. This will keep it from interfering with the tank joints and prevent detritus from settling underneath.

I've got a GC tank as well...I put a sheet of 3/8" acrylic inside the cavity left by the lower eurobracing so that there wasn't a void down there underneath the HDPE.
