How do i tell the difference?

if my cleaner shrimp has molted, or died? he has been missing for a few days and now out of nowhere a clear shrimp shell has showed up.

Probably molted. They hide for a few days until the new shell hardens.

If it's a clear shell then he's definitely just molted. He'll stay in hiding for a little while and then you'll see him again with a shiny, bright new shell.

Usually when you buy new shrimp they molt pretty quickly. This is due to the fact that most pet stores water quality isn't the greatest. Therefore, the increase in calcium and iodine in the new environment causes them to molt. This is a healthy sign.

Definitely a molt. When I bought my 3 Peppermints, they all molted within the first 24 hours.

ok found the shrimp! i was up walking past my tank on my way outside for a late night smoke, and when i glanced over i saw him on the rock with the moon lights on so it is good he is still alive and well
